Cliquesoft

Welcome

Welcome to Cliquesoft! This company is dedicated to producing and distributing high quality, open-source software that is both free of charge and free from most restrictions. What sets us apart from other manufacturers? Our target market, first of all. There is a lot of software written for GNU/Linux in the enterprise and there are a lot of big companies contributing a lot of money to R&D for the enterprise. Instead of going after that market, we decided to devote our time and resources to home users, SOHO and medium-sized businesses (as marked by the software's extension - .home and .pro respectively). Another aspect that makes us different is our approach to software. We tailor as much of our software as possible to remain command line oriented and controlled via a webpage interface. This allows any client, regardless of operating system, from anywhere that has an internet connection, to be able to use the software developed here.

Projects

Some of our projects include backup software, scripts performing various tasks, and accounting software. Another project, that is considered long-term, is a full-featured operating system named "XiniX" that will cover embedded, home, and business editions. The development status of each project can be found in our "Dev Progress" section in the upper left corner of the menu. For those interested in helping code or beta test, download our latest betas using the menu system to the left under the "Downloads" category. And for those that see a need for an application, but can't find one, send us an email explaining what you are trying to accomplish and we will let you know if it's something we can work on.

We Need You

Are you willing and able to put forth your talents as contributions to create better software? If the answer is yes, we sure could use your help. We need people to work as developers, package maintainers, beta testers, authors of documentation, lawyers for legal issues, and more. If you fall under any of those categories or have additional talents, please email our staff to let us know what your abilities are and what you would like to do to help. For those who do not fall under any of those categories, but would still like to help, financial and equipment donations are just as valuable.

Visit this area of the website to see articles written about this company or the software our staff and other developers create and distribute here. To help our staff, if you know of an article or want to write an article affiliated with Cliquesoft, please inform our staff so it can be posted here.

Overview

The word "clique" is defined by wikipedia as "an exclusive group of people who share interests, views, purposes, patterns of behavior, or ethnicity." While ethnicity and race are never a determining factor, developers of open-source software tend to fit into that definition. Since this company is dedicated to developing software that is solely open-sourced, it made sense to call the company "Cliquesoft". The software our staff and contributing developers build will span various markets and include the ability to directly fit a need via plugins and modules. We are based out of Orlando, Florida, but we invite all those who share our same vision to help us develop free and open software for the masses.

Our Top Goals

Our primary goal is to create and (re)distribute superior open-source software that is capable of running on multiple platforms and that has been released under one of the versions of the GPL license or one that is compatible. This will ensure that anyone who wants to modify, rebrand, redistribute, etc. has the complete right to do so for free. We also feel that open-source software promotes creativity, efficiency, stability, and brings people together in a common bond.

Our second goal is to harness the power and flexibility of command line binaries with the benefits of using web based frontends (GUIs). While compiled graphical binaries have their advantages, we chose to use this style of UI due to it being platform independent, built-in remote access capabilities, easier to program for (since no high level programming is needed), and more.

Policies

Cliquesoft can be considered the "Camelot" of software companies. Anyone who has heard of Camelot probably knows about the Knights of the round table. The idea behind the round table is that there is no "head of the table," so no one person has a privileged position. Everyone has equal say (both developers and the community) in matters because this method makes everyone peers instead of a chain of command. It also forces compromises among the people so that no one side "gets to have it their way." The ultimate result should be approved by all and solves the problem in a manner that is best for the end user. Using this approach to guide and shape software, as well as company development, we have become a company for the people, by the people.

The staff at Cliquesoft looks forward to hearing from existing and potential members. Please send us feedback in the form of comments, questions, or concerns whether good or bad. Our staff can use this information to help with any improvements that should be addressed. We would also like to hear from you even if you have an idea for our site or a possible service.

For those of you that have an email application on the computer you are using, feel free to click any of the email links. Otherwise, a form has been included below, for your convenience, to send us your correspondence. To keep track of your submissions, a copy will be sent to the email address you provide in the "Your email" field.

This page provides a complete list of each project we are currently working on while providing you with an overview of what each does. While this list provides "at-a-glance details", clicking on the project's name will load that project's indepth page. You can also download the latest stable and beta versions by clicking on their respective links.

See how far the development of our projects have come since you last visited! We include a visual graph so it is very easy to see the current phase of development for each project. To see a list of the new features being added, simply click the plus sign next to the project's name.

Users who want to upload drivers, help develop software (via ticket assignment), post messages in the forms, and more, must log in to do so. If you do not have a user account and would like one, fill out the available information in the "Create/Update" section below (or provide your "OnlyProfile.org ID" to have it entered for you) and click the "Submit" button. If you're not using an OnlyProfile.org ID, your account will require email verification and upon confirmation, your account will become active immediately.

To update your account information, login and change whatever information you would like (while leaving the rest intact) under the "Create/Update" section and then click the "Submit" button.

Although we thoroughly test our software prior to releasing, bugs are bound to happen. If you have come across one, we encourage you to fill out the form below so we can patch our software. While filling out this form, if you have trouble understanding what each field is for or what values we are looking for, hold the mouse over the textbox and help will be displayed.

Let's face it, features make software. Although we have a creative set of in-house developers, we can't think of everything. A lot of good ideas come from those that use the software and have a slightly different need than what it was designed for -OR- they might think of a more efficient way to accomplish the same task. Whatever sparks your imagination, we look forward to hearing from you about your great new idea. Please keep in mind that all submissions will become licensed under whatever version of the GPL that application is currently being released.

We allow all registered users to upload drivers for any devices used in GNU/Linux that are not part of the default kernel. Uploaders are also responsible for providing instructions (and preferably installation scripts) on how to incorporate the driver for the end users. Also, if you have a driver that doesn't fit into an existing category, please email our staff about having it added.

Cliquesoft appreciates any donations made by its users, businesses, or the general public. Without these contributions, the development cycle for our software would slow to a crawl. Below you can select which application you would like to donate funds to or allot your entire sum to the overall development. We use the trusted third party payment processing system, PayPal, to protect your financial information. Also, be sure to check out the recent progress made on each project by clicking on the 'Dev Progress' menu link.

Currently, there is no apparel to purchase due to this company not having a logo. We are working on this and would appreciate any graphical artists out there that have spare time or just want to contribute to submit an idea for a logo. For more information on the logo situation, please see the "Logo & Badges" link at the bottom of the page.

Cliquesoft currently doesn't have any graphics associated with a logo or badge. Anyone that has graphical talents that would like to contribute to this organization is more than welcome to do so. The deadline for all submissions will be 01/01/2010 and at that point they will be posted here for review and possible voting by our registered members. Please note that all submissions become property of Cliquesoft and will require copies of all the graphics related files.
